Rules & Regs
“Miss This Christmas” Contest Rules
The “Miss This Christmas” contest (hereinafter: the “Contest”) is brought to you by Stingray Radio Inc. (hereinafter: the “Contest Organizers”). The Contest runs in Edmonton, Alberta from December 1, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. MST until December 16, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. MST (hereinafter: the “Contest Period”).
ELIGIBILITY
This Contest is open to all persons residing in the K-97 listening area (as defined by NUMERIS) who have reached the age of twenty-one (21) as of the first day of the Contest Period. Notwithstanding the preceding, the Contest is not open to individuals associated with the Contest, including the employees, agents, and representatives of the Contest Organizers (including their respective divisions, subsidiaries, affiliates, and agencies), their advertising and promotional agencies, suppliers of prizes, materials, and services related to this Contest, or any other party directly linked to the holding of this Contest (the “Excluded Individuals”). This Contest is also not open to the immediate family members of the Excluded Individuals. For the purpose of these Contest Rules, “immediate family” includes father, mother, brothers, sisters, children, legal or common-law spouse, and individuals with whom such employees, agents, and representatives reside.
HOW TO ENTER
No purchase is necessary. During the Contest Period, listeners must visit the official contest entry page at www.k97.ca and completely fill out the online entry form. As part of the entry, entrants must submit a short, creative story of 300 words or less explaining why they “want to miss this Christmas”.
Maximum of one (1) entry per person.
JUDGING CRITERIA/WINNER SELECTION
All eligible entries submitted will be judged by a designated panel of judges from the K-97 Programming and Promotions Department to determine one (1) prize winner. ALL DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES WILL BE FINAL.
Valid entries will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Creativity & Originality: How unique and imaginative is the submission?
- Humour & Entertainment Value: Is the story fun, engaging, and memorable?
- Adherence to the Theme: Does the entry clearly and creatively explain why the entrant wants to “miss this Christmas”?
- Overall Impression: How well-written and impactful is the submission?
The winner will be selected and contacted on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m. MST.
ON-AIR BROADCAST OF SUBMISSIONS
By entering the Contest, each entrant grants the Contest Organizers the right to read, share, or otherwise broadcast their submitted story, in whole or in part, on-air and on K-97’s digital platforms for promotional purposes. The Contest Organizers may contact entrants to discuss their submission live on-air. The selection of a submission for on-air broadcast does not imply that the entrant is a potential winner, nor does it increase their chances of winning. The purpose of sharing submissions is to create awareness for the contest and to highlight creative entries.
GRAND PRIZE DESCRIPTION
There is one (1) Grand Prize available to be won, which includes a trip for two (2) to Cancun, Mexico. The prize includes:
- Round-trip airfare for two (2) from Edmonton (YEG) to Cancun (CUN).
- A seven (7) night all-inclusive stay at the El Dorado Royale in a Luxury Junior Suite.
- One (1) 50lb checked bag per person.
The following conditions apply to the Grand Prize:
- Trip dates are fixed. The winner and their guest must be available to travel, departing from Edmonton on December 24, 2025 (approx. 7:00 a.m. departure) and returning from Cancun on December 31, 2025 (approx. 6:00 p.m. departure).
- The winner and their guest must have valid passports, valid for the duration of the trip, and must be legally able to enter Mexico.
- The winner must provide the full legal names and dates of birth for themselves and their guest to the K-97 Promotions department no later than 11:00 a.m. MST on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
- In the event that the winner cannot provide the required information within the outlined time frame, or is unable to take the trip on the outlined dates, they will forfeit the prize, and the Contest Organizers reserve the right to select a new winner from the remaining eligible entries.
- The prize holds no cash value and is non-transferable.
- The winner must hold a valid credit card to cover any incidentals or any other requirements that may be stipulated at the hotel and during travel.
- Ground transfers to the departure airport and in-destination are the sole responsibility of the winner.
- The Contest Organizers are not responsible for any other travel arrangements affected due to cancellation, changes, or rescheduling of any dates. The Contest Organizers will not be responsible if weather conditions or other factors beyond the Contest Organizers’ reasonable control prevent a Prize or part of a Prize from being fulfilled. Further, the Contest Organizers assume no liability or responsibility whatsoever should the winner or their guest be denied entry by the airline or customs/immigration officials for any reason whatsoever.
HOW TO BE DECLARED A WINNER
In order to be declared a winner, the selected potential winner must be in compliance with these Contest Rules and, in particular, the following:
- Answer correctly the mathematical skill-testing question asked on a publicity release.
- Sign a publicity release and liability waiver form (hereinafter: the “Release Form”) sent by the Contest Organizers and return the signed copies to them.
By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to abide by these Contest Rules. In the event the potential or declared contestant fails to comply with any one of the conditions set out above or any other conditions set out in these Contest Rules, the Contest Organizers reserve the right to disqualify such entrant from the Contest.
HOW TO CLAIM A PRIZE
The winner will be contacted by the station to coordinate prize fulfillment. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and may not be substituted by the winner. The Station assumes no responsibility or liability for damages, expenses, loss, or injury resulting from acceptance, collection, or use of the prize.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Verification. Online entries are subject to verification by the Contest Organizers. Any Entry Form which is incomplete, incomprehensible, fraudulent, contains false information, or otherwise does not conform to these Contest Rules will automatically be rendered invalid.
Age. Participants in this contest must be 21 years or older as of December 1, 2025.
Disqualification. The Contest Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any person or cancel one or more entries of any person participating in this Contest or trying to participate by means contrary to these Contest Rules or in a manner which is unfair to other entrants. Any attempt to tamper with the entry process, interfere with these Contest Rules, deliberately damage any website, or undermine the administration, security, or legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws.
Noncompliance/Eligibility. If a potential or declared winner is not in compliance with these Contest Rules, the Contest Organizers reserve the right to disqualify such entrant and select another entrant from the remaining eligible entries until a winner is finally declared.
Substitution of Prize. In the event it is impossible, difficult, and/or more costly for the Contest Organizers to award a prize as described, the Contest Organizers reserve the right to award a prize of similar nature and equivalent value or, at their sole discretion, the value of the prize in cash.
Refusal of a Prize. The refusal by a potential or declared winner to accept any prize releases and forever discharges the Contest Organizers of all obligations related to the prize.
Liability Limit – Use of Prize. Each entrant and any potential or declared winner releases the Contest Organizers, their subsidiaries, respective divisions, their parent corporations, their advertising and promotional agencies, their shareholders, officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives (hereinafter: the “Beneficiaries”) from any and all liability for any and all damage, loss, or liability suffered as a result of or arising from the entrant’s participation in the Contest or the acceptance or use of his/her prize.
Liability of Prize Supplier. Any person selected for a grand prize acknowledges that upon receipt of a letter confirming the prize, all services to be rendered in connection with their prize become the sole responsibility of the prize or services supplier.
Liability Limit – Running of the Contest. The Beneficiaries are not liable for faulty computer components, software, or links; the loss or non-existence of communications capability; or faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible, or erased computer or network transmissions that make it difficult, or render a user unable, to enter the Contest.
Modification. The Contest Organizers reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this Contest, in whole or in part, in the case of the occurrence of an event, an error, or any human intervention that could corrupt or affect the administration, safety, impartiality, or the running of the Contest as provided in these Contest Rules.
Liability Limit – Participation. Any person who participates or tries to participate in this Contest releases the Beneficiaries from any and all liability for damages which he/she could suffer from participating or trying to participate in this Contest.
Authorization. By entering this Contest, each declared winner consents to the Contest Organizers and their representatives using, at their sole discretion, their name, photograph, likeness, testimonial related to the prize, place of residence, and/or voice without compensation whatsoever and without limit as for the period of use, in any media and on a worldwide scale, for publicity purposes.
List of Winners. A list of winners will be made available on the K-97 website.
Property of Entries. Entry Forms are the sole property of the Contest Organizers and at no time will be returned to entrants.
Personal Information. Contestant personal information that is collected in this Contest will be used solely by the Contest Organizers and their representatives for the administration of the Contest.
Decisions of the Contest Organizers. All decisions of the Contest Organizers or those of their representatives regarding this Contest are final and binding on all entrants.
Jurisdiction. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
